Hello, My name is Kerri Byrd, and I am a Fifth Grade Teacher here at Semmes Elementary School! I have been teaching for a total of 21 years, this will start my 19th year at Semmes Elementary and I absolutely love it! It is a calling from God! I love being around my students, they keep me laughing and smiling through-out the day. In these 19 years, I have met some wonderful parents, and been blessed to teach their children. I have a wonderful and supportive family, and a handsome nephew that is dear to my heart! When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading a good book, not to mention I love to shop (A LOT), travel (My family and I go to Disney World once a year, it’s like our home away from home!), and spending time with family and friends. As a family we enjoy watching Alabama Football! ROLL TIDE ROLL!

 My educational philosophy is to make lifelong learners out of my students. I want my students to be able to walk into the classroom with smiles on their faces and enthusiasm in their voices about what they will be learning. This goal can be accomplished through a positive approach to learning and teaching. Education to me is more than just teaching; it is loving, caring, showing, communicating, and growing. By implementing all these qualities into the educational environment, I will instill a love of learning in my students.
